Overview
Goals help you set, track, and achieve team objectives. Whether you're using OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), simple targets, or milestone-based goals, Core provides the tools to keep your team aligned and accountable.
Note: This feature is currently experimental. Some functionality may change as we refine the experience based on user feedback.
Goal structure
A goal consists of:
- Title: A clear, concise name for the goal
- Description (optional): Additional context and details
- Priority: Low, Medium, or High
- Due date (optional): When the goal should be completed
- Target value (optional): For measurable goals, the number you’re aiming for
- Current value (optional): Where you are now; progress is derived from current ÷ target
- Notes (optional): Private notes or next steps
- Progress: Current status toward completion (0–100%)
Creating goals
- Navigate to Goals in the sidebar (under Experimental)
- In Add a New Goal, enter:
- Goal: A specific, actionable title
- Description (optional): Context or success criteria
- Priority: Low, Medium, or High
- Due date (optional): Target completion date
- Target value and Current value (optional): For numeric goals, progress is calculated automatically
- Notes (optional): Private notes or next steps
- Click Add Goal
Tracking progress
- Use the progress slider on each goal to set completion from 0% to 100%.
- For goals with a target value, you can also click the current / target display and enter a new current value; progress and status update automatically.
- Goals at 100% are shown as completed (green highlight, strikethrough title, and Completed badge).
- Add or edit notes on a goal via Add notes or Edit notes on the card.
- To remove a goal, use the trash icon on the goal card.
Viewing other people's goals
You can view another team member’s goals by opening their goals dashboard (e.g. from the people section). You’ll see their goals and overall progress; only the owner can add, edit progress, or delete goals.
Best practices
- Set SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound
- Keep goals visible: Review progress in team meetings
- Update regularly: Don't let progress tracking fall behind
- Celebrate wins: Acknowledge completed goals
- Learn from misses: Analyze why goals weren't met and adjust
OKR methodology
If you're using OKRs:
- Objectives: High-level goals (qualitative)
- Key Results: Measurable outcomes (quantitative)
Create the Objective as a milestone goal, then create numeric goals for each Key Result. Link them using tags or naming conventions.
